ADDICTIVE TV

ADDICTIVE TV present a new show : “Orchestra of Samples”

Wanting to explore new forms of collaboration, electronic duo and trail-blazers in the art of audio/video remixing, Addictive TV have spent the last few years filming improvised recordings sessions with more than 100 musicians in over 20 countries, from Mexico to Senegal, Brazil to the Himalayas and across Europe. They then sampled this unique archive to produce new visual music where audiences see the samples, creating a virtual supergroup of international artists from snippets of all the different musicians who had never met.

Both up-and-coming and known artists in their respective fields play everything from traditional instruments like West African Huddu guitar and Egyptian Ney flute to futuristic sounds of the French Baschet instruments and acoustic drums from Motörhead’s original drummer. For certain tracks, the duo are joined live on stage by a guest artist who took part in the recording sessions.

ADDICTIVE TV – BIOGRAPHY

Once so eloquently described as ‘next level shit’ by Grandmaster Flash, British electronic duo Addictive TV create music with a difference; it’s music you can see.

They’re “responsible for mind-bending live entertainment” according to UK newspaper The Times, and US entertainment magazine Paste said “Addictive TV completely blew my mind! …a compelling pop-culture audio/visual avalanche!” while DJ Magazine twice voted them #1 VJs in the World alongside their Top 100 DJ Poll, saying “they’ve become famed for their eye-popping live shows, shredding and cutting film with beats into a heady, mind-meltingly funky mixture”.

On the directing and sound design front, Addictive TV have created commercials and video installations for the likes of Adidas, Red Bull and EA Games.  Hollywood studios including Paramount, Universal and 20th Century Fox have all used their movie mashing talents to create alternative trailers for films including Iron Man, Fast & Furious and Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire. In 2012, the guys created a commercial for the much anticipated Street Fighter x Tekken video game from Capcom and Namco – the first time two games publishers have joined forces. In 2013, the Pompidou Centre in Paris commissioned them to collaborate with Oscar winning animators H5 to create a piece for the 15th anniversary of the Paris Techno Parade.

Addictive TV is founder Graham Daniels and mash-up guru Mark Vidler, aka Go Home Productions.  The pair met in 2005, through EMI, working together on Mark’s album track Rapture Riders, remixing Blondie (Rapture) with The Doors (Riders on the Storm).

Graham and Mark’s shared passion for film and music, plus their parallel journeys through VJ and mash-up DJ cultures, have brought the guys to where they are now; entertaining audiences and winning new fans by playing and making music their own way, audiovisually.

Addictive TV’s forthcoming project – ‘Orchestra of Samples’ – has involved filming over 100 musicians in nearly 20 countries. The project will tour from 2014.
